Calling Mr. Elliott
A few quick thoughts today on the Senators:
I'm thinking Hartsburg is just about out of ideas on how to get this team going. Throwing your captain and leading goal scorer (Alfie & Spezza) under the bus after the Boston game is a sign of this. Whatever "system" Hartsburg has put in place in Ottawa has turned one of the most exciting, offensive teams in the league into a lacklustre, offensively-troubled peewee squad. Well done, sir.
Rumours are swiling - I tend to not get excited anymore, I'll wait for the official press release of any trades. Apparently, Columbus has two scouts at the Senators/Bruins game last night and it is thought that a deal could be in the works. Whatever.
Well, it could be a very good move, or a very risky move. Brian Elliott - currently one of the best goalies in the AHL, has been called up to start on Saturday versus the Rangers. Very interesting move to say the least. I don't like seeing this kid get thrown to the wolves here with this situation in Ottawa, but with that being said - if he can come in and get 20-25 games to finish out the season it will give Ottawa an idea about where this kid stands in terms of playing at the NHL level. I think he is going to come in and play much better than both Gerber and Auld have lately (in Gerber's case, replace lately with the last 3 years).
Anyways, that is all for today - it will be an interesting game tomorrow night as Ottawa is finally back home and with Elliott starting the game ..... who knows what is going to happen.

New Coach
How about Pat Quinn as new coach of the Sens? What do you think about that? I think it would be a smart move on the Sens part.
